Only a handful of late 20th century rock songs claim the musical impact of the tune "I Wanna Be Sedated." As authored and performed by the seminal American punk band the Ramones, this two-and-a-half-minute single -- issued on the 1978 LP Road to Ruin -- carried the wave of popular music dramatically away from raw, no-frills punk and toward the shore of early 1980s new wave.
